Will Dif Freedom run on my computer?

Dif Freedom can be used on a PC with any of the following Microsoft Windows operating systems:
Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista(32bit and 64 bit) or Windows 2003 server.

Internet browser requirements:
Internet Explorer 5.5 or later must be installed and should be the default browser.

Dif Freedom requires a PC with the following minimum and recommended specifications:

CPU: Pentium 1.5 GHz
Free hard disk space: 200 MB
Modem/Internet connection: 56 kbps modem (56 kbps is possible but not recommended. 56 kbps might present problems when downloading the installations and upgrades)
Screen resolution: 1024 x 768 (16 bit)
RAM: 512 MB (1.5 GB if you are running Microsoft Windows Vista, because Windows Vista alone needs 1 GB)

CPU: Pentium 4, 2.5GHz or faster
Free hard disk space: 200 MB
Modem/Internet connection: 256 kbps or faster
Screen resolution: 1280 x 1024, true color (24 bit) colors.
RAM: 2 GB (at least 2 GB if you are running Microsoft Windows Vista, because Windows Vista alone needs 1 GB)

Other requirements:
Support for right-to-left languages must be installed in Windows, in order to run the Arabic version.
1) Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.
2) On the Languages tab, under Supplemental language support, select the Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages check box.
3) Click OK or Apply.
4) After the files are installed, you must restart your computer

Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed in order to view some of the analysis pages, incorporated into the Dif Freedom. The latest version of the program can be downloaded from Adobe .

The system must support long file names, i.e. file names that are longer than 8 characters plus a file extension For example, file names such as 'Supertrader.doc' must be possible.

Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 or later is required to view some elements of the Help. The newest version of the program can be downloaded free of charge from Adobe .

A JAVA virtual machine must be installed to view the Streaming News and Instrument Information pages.

Internet Connection:
Access to the Internet is required through an Internet Service Provider (ISP), either directly or from behind a firewall/proxy which allows TCP Traffic through Port 1001 or HTTP traffic. Refer to the Firewall setup page.

Dif Freedom has not been tested on Macintosh, and therefore we cannot guarantee full functionality. We recommend using an Intel based Macintosh with a bootcamp Windows installation.

Hand-held devices:
Dif Freedom cannot be run on handheld devices - Windows CE is not supported.

Dif Freedom cannot be run on Linux - 'For PC' emulation software is not supported.

How do I know if I have the latest version of the Dif Freedom?

You will always have the latest version of the Dif Freedom.

Whenever you start the Dif Freedom, it automatically checks for updates and notifies you when an update is available. You can then choose to update immediately or wait for a more convenient time.

I am lacking an Instrument/Symbol in my Dif Freedom, how do I find it?

The Instrument/Symbol is not showing because you do not have the most up to date instrument list on your PC. To make sure you have the latest instrument list go to the installation folder of Dif Freedom (usually: C:\Program Files\Diffreedom\DIF Freedom), find all the files with the extension .Xic and delete these files.

You should now recieve the latest instrument list.

If you still can not retrieve the Instrument/Symbol you require then please contact DIF Broker to check that your account indeed is setup for the Instrument/Symbol.

Can I see general information on the Dif Freedom and how each module works?

You can see this in the help.

Can I change the layout of the Dif Freedom?

The Dif Freedom layout can be completely customised enabling you to:

- Add, edit or delete Views (with their access tabs) from the respective trade menus.
- Add modules to a view from the respective trade menus.
- Save changes to the workspaces from the File menu. You will also be asked if you want to save any changes when you exit the Client Station

For more information refer to 'Customising your trading platform' in the Help function within Dif Freedom (press the F1 key to start the help function)

It is a good idea to backup your workspace file on different locations, e.g. other locations on your harddisk or on a USB stick. To do this press File > Save as... and choose your desired location.

When I open the Account Summary in the Dif Freedom I get "Sorry you aren't entitled to use this function", what do I do?

This is more than likely because your Security settings are too high in Internet Explorer.

To show the account summary please do the following for Windows 2000/XP

1) Close the Dif Freedom
2) Open Internet Explorer
3) Click tools >> internet options
4) Click security
5) Click trusted sites (in green)
6) Click sites
7) Remove the tick from "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone"
8) Enter the site URL:
9) Click Add
10) Click OK and then OK
11) Close Internet Explorer
12) Open the platform and login


I have trouble installing/running the application. Can you provide me Remote Desktop Support?

Yes, we use Remote Desktop (powered by FixMe.IT) to connect to your Desktop. In order to start a support session, you will need to open the page and then click on the button "Start Support Session". A small application, digitally signed by Techinline, will be downloaded to your computer. Once you run the application, it will show a 6 digit code. You will need to communicate the code to our support team. Our support team will then initiate a Remote Desktop connection, which you will need to approve as well. Once approved, our support staff will be able to see your Desktop. Before performing this action, please contact our support team to schedule an hour.
